Our Financial Education Programmes
Each programme is designed for specific age groups, addressing the financial knowledge and skills relevant to their stage of development.
We offer five core programmes, each structured around the unique learning needs of different age ranges. Sessions run in small groups at our Edinburgh location, creating an environment where young people feel comfortable asking questions.
Financial Basics Workshop
Ages 6-10
This workshop introduces younger children to foundational money concepts through games, stories, and hands-on activities.
What They Learn
- What money is and why it has value
- The connection between work and earning
- Basic needs versus wants
- Introduction to saving
- Making simple spending decisions
Sessions use age-appropriate scenarios like saving for a toy or managing pocket money. We avoid abstract concepts in favour of tangible examples they encounter daily.
Money Management Course
Ages 11-14
As children gain independence, they need more sophisticated financial skills. This course bridges basic concepts and practical money management.
What They Learn
- Creating and following a simple budget
- Setting financial goals and tracking progress
- Understanding how banks work
- The psychology behind spending decisions
- Comparing value and making informed choices
We use real-world scenarios like managing birthday money, saving for specific purchases, and understanding why impulse buying happens. The course includes interactive budgeting exercises.
Investment & Savings Workshop
Ages 15-17
Teenagers approaching adulthood need to understand long-term financial planning. This workshop doesn't simplify complex topics—it makes them accessible.
What They Learn
- How compound interest works and why it matters
- Different types of savings and investment accounts
- Risk versus reward in financial decisions
- Introduction to stocks, shares, and funds
- Planning for major expenses like university or a car
We discuss real investment scenarios, examine case studies, and work through calculations that demonstrate long-term growth. This workshop prepares them for financial decisions they'll face within a few years.
